Art Term 2:

In Art this term we are learning about Picasso.

Here is some information about Picasso:
Quote: "All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."– Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain, as the son of an art and drawing teacher. He died April 8, 1973.

He was a brilliant student.

Blue and Rose Period

The Blue Period of Picasso lasted from about 1900 to 1904. It is characterized by the use of different shades of blue underlining the melancholic style of his subjects - people from the grim side of life with thin, half-starved bodies.external image Picasso%201.jpg

During Picasso's Rose Period from about 1905 to 1906, he used friendly pink tone with subjects taken from the world of the circus.

In 1904 Picasso moved to Paris where he met other famous artists like **Henri Matisse**.

Cubism is a more modern art movement in which forms are abstracted and the subject is painted in basic geometric shapes.

The Cubism period started in Paris in 1908 and continued into the 20's. The leaders in the cubist era were **Pablo Picasso** and **Georges Braque** . Another painter from this period include Fernand Leger.
